Core Ethical Questions We Must Address
As neural technologies accelerate—brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), emotion-sensing AI, cognitive enhancement tools—the conversation can no longer be just about innovation.
It must also be about intention.
Because we’re not just shaping new capabilities. We’re shaping new relationships:
With our data.
With our minds.
With ourselves.
And before we scale these tools, we need to ask the right questions.

What does “informed” really mean when the tech is invisible—and the risks are incomprehensible?
Brain technology doesn’t work like a website cookie or a wearable step tracker. It reads signals we often don’t understand ourselves.
That raises urgent concerns:

How do we achieve informed consent when most people don’t fully grasp how their neural data will be used—or what it could reveal?

Will neurotech liberate—or divide us further?

This raises sharp questions of fairness:
